General information

CERT AM is a country CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team). It is administered by a representative of the Armenian Internet domain.

AM NREN CSIRT is Armenia National Research and Education Network Computer Security Incident Response Team. It is administered by the representative of a major Armenian NREN which is ASNET-AM.

CERT AM/AM NREN CSIRT is a national information security center operating under the management of the Internet Society of Armenia.

Tasks and goals

The main task of CERT AM/AM NREN CSIRT is to assist network/system administrators and users of Armenian networks in prevention, investigation and liquidation of computer incidents, which may affect the security of Armenian networks. Other tasks and goals include generation and distribution of vulnerability reports, performing technology watch and preparation of brief newsletters about improvements in the field of security software/hardware, collection and generation of statistical information concerning computer incidents in Armenian networks.

Clients

Constituency of CERT AM//AM NREN CSIRT includes organizations, foundations, RENs, research institutes and users, which are part of or using resources of Armenian network.

Incident response

CERT AM/AM NREN CSIRT starts an incident handling procedure only after receiving an incident report from a user.

The level of support given by CERT AM/AM NREN CSIRT in response to received incident report may differ depending on the type and cardinality of the incident and on the potential damage that can be caused by the incident. CERT AM/AM NREN CSIRT may ignore an incident report in case of unclear explanaition of incident or when an incident report lacks critical information. The report may also be ignored in case when the identity of sender can not be verified.

To avoid these kinds of situations it is strongly advised to match the incident report with incident report template as accurately as possible, to include contact information in the incident report, and if possible use electronic signatures for e-mails.
